Scientific Committee

The eminent scientists who guide Cancer Grand Challenges' strategy throughout every milestone in the initiative's lifecycle.

The Committee's role

The Scientific Committee provides input to Cancer Research UK at every stage of the funding process, from working with researchers and patient advocates to identify and prioritise challenges, to assessing applications from global teams proposing bold approaches to tackling them. As our funded teams unlock new discoveries, the Committee will continue to help steer their direction to maximise the impact of Cancer Grand Challenges funding.

The Committee comprises eminent scientists from a range of fields. Each members' unique perspective and the diversity of their expertise and experience is instrumental in driving progress against cancer’s toughest challenges.

All final decisions are made by Cancer Research UK and the National Cancer Institute as co-founders.
