Meet Nicky, co-investigator on NexTGen

Dr McGranahan's work explores cancer initiation, progression and metastasis within an evolutionary framework.

He has developed approaches to disentangle the evolutionary history and metastatic process within individual tumours revealing the dynamics of mutational processes which sculpt the genome, shedding light on the key events that influence cancer development and investigated the importance of considering cancer development in the context of its immune microenvironment.

He leads a computational group focusing both on analysis of large-scale datasets and the development of computational tools enabling an exploration of the constraints and contingencies to cancer evolution, the relationship between genotype, phenotype and plasticity, and the interplay between the cancer cell and its environment.
